Our future plans for surgery

Our future plans for surgery

Our surgeons are among the best in the country, and patients get the best possible treatment when they perform large numbers of operations of the same sort.

During the next decade we aim to develop a network of specialist centres of surgical excellence, rather like the heart centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital or the major trauma centre at The Royal London.

Our group model means we can offer patients fast access to specialist surgical centres while maintaining our excellent local facilities for urgent, emergency and maternity care at The Royal London, Newham and Whipps Cross.

You can read about the exciting plans developed by our surgery clinical board, and how they fit into what we are doing with our local partners to transform NHS care for patients across East London, in the Sustaining Safe and Compassionate Care document.

We are seeking feedback on these proposals from interested parties over the coming weeks and asking readers to complete a short questionnaire.
