The nursing programme is split into two phases. Phase one focuses on confidence and competence, and includes communication skills, safeguarding, patient safety, responsibilities for improvement as well as other core competencies. Phase two focuses on leadership and managerial skills and you’ll undertake the NHS Leadership Academy Edward Jenner Leadership programme.

The NHS Pastoral Care award recognises the physical and emotional care we give to new people joining Barts Health from overseas. This includes 1,200 internationally educated nurses and midwives since 2016.

Elective placements
At Barts Health we offer elective placements for Nursing and Midwifery students. You must be at least 18 years old to apply. Please complete an elective placement request form and email the electronic copy to the undergraduate education team. Please note submitting this form does not guarantee you a placement.
