Community nutrition and dietetics
We deliver community nutrition and dietetic services to adult residents in the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Newham. The team includes dietitians, nutritionists and dietetic support workers in Tower Hamlets, and dietitians in Newham. We are part of a wider team of dietitians working across the Barts Health NHS Trust.
We provide evidence based information on food and nutrition related issues. This is either through the promotion of good eating habits or in the dietetic treatment of diseases and disorders.
We work within a wide variety of settings across the borough including outpatient clinics, patients’ homes, nursing and care homes, the local authority and voluntary and community groups.
We are experts in diet and nutrition and encourage health professionals in Tower Hamlets and Newham to contact us for advice on any nutritional matter.
We accept clinical referrals for patients requiring home visits that are at risk of malnutrition. Eligible referrals should have a completed malnutrition universal screening tool (MUST), with a score of two or more. For patients that required enteral tube feeding, there is a dedicated home enteral tube feeding dietitian in each of the boroughs.
