Barts Health is taking a lead role in a national programme to find and support the next generation of talented women and people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities to become non-executive directors in the NHS. 

The east end’s hospitals have been invaded by robotic surgeons – including the UK’s only dedicated robot treating the heart, lungs and chest – paving the way for a new robotics centre at Barts Health.

Seven departments at The Royal London and St Bartholomew’s hospitals will now be operating on patients using da vinci robots, thanks to £5.5m funding from Barts Charity.

Newham's Project SEARCH interns joined forces with the estates team to transform Newham University Hospital’s gardens. They planted primroses, chrysanthemums, tulips and daffodils to help brighten up the hospital's grounds for staff and patients.
