Project SEARCH interns brighten up Newham University Hospital's gardens | Our news

Newham's Project SEARCH interns joined forces with the estates team to transform Newham University Hospital’s gardens. They planted primroses, chrysanthemums, tulips and daffodils to help brighten up the hospital's grounds for staff and patients.

Barts Health NHS Trust supports Project SEARCH's internship programme for young people with autism and/or learning disabilities and works with councils across North East London to drive this forward in its hospitals.

The activity aimed to help the twelve interns build strong relationships with each other and expand their planning and decision-making skills that will prove useful in their future careers.

Lazarus Henry, one of the interns, said: “It was a fantastic day – everyone worked as a team and I learnt new skills. I’m looking forward to doing more of these activities while at Newham Hospital.”
