We caught up with Andrea McDonnell, Associate Director of Nursing at Newham Hospital and Barts Health inspirational woman, about her life and achievements.

With so many nominations for our maternity staff, we simply couldn’t choose one individual. Instead we shortlisted a group of inspirational women to represent the service at Newham Hospital. Below we chatted to them about their experience as women in 2020.

The Newham Hospital Estates Team, were referred to as 'a team of everyday heroes' in their winning nomination for the Barts Charity Award at our Barts Health Heroes ceremony. The Award recognised their work to successfully implement new signage and designs across the hospital during the Charity's Your Hospital, Your Charity drive. Sam Nadarajan, senior head of estates, tells us more about the team and what they do. 

Following her nomination for the Barts Health meets Vogue inspiring women awards, we sat down with Ms Arti Garg, consultant surgeon at Newham Hospital, to get an insight into her life, her achievements and her future ambitions.

Newham Hospital has adopted Beads of Courage to support children in telling their story using colourful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that they receive to acknowledge each step of their treatment journey.
