The stage is set for our staff and patients in Channel 5’s Operation:Live

Our hospital staff and patients will step into the limelight this week (13-15 November 2018), starring in Channel 5's Operation:Live.
Viewers will go behind the scenes to join surgeons and their teams in a rarely-seen side of the NHS, as The Royal London and St Bartholomew's hospitals perform three operations live on air.
The live television event will be fronted by Nicky Campbell from 10pm each night, with viewers being invited to submit questions to surgical experts via social media.
Episode 1 - Open Heart Surgery Live, Tuesday 13th November at 10pm on Channel 5
The live programmes will begin with Mr Kulvinder Lall performing open heart surgery (replacing an aortic valve) for a patient at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
Episode 2 - Operation Live: Total Knee Rebuild, Wednesday 14th November at 10pm on Channel 5
The next night, at The Royal London Hospital, will see Mr Steven Millington perform a knee replacement.
Episode 3 - Removing The Tumour Live, Thursday 15th November at 10pm on Channel 5
On the final night, Professor Shafi Ahmed will remove a tumour from the colon of a patient at The Royal London Hospital.
Barts Health NHS Trust, which runs the hospitals, hopes to celebrate the life-changing work that goes on day and night in hospitals across the country.
Alistair Chesser, Chief Medical Officer at Barts Health NHS Trust said: "I am thrilled that Channel 5 will be throwing a spotlight onto the world-class treatment we provide at Barts Health. Our surgical teams together with staff across our hospitals are rightly proud of the tremendous care they give to patients. We are grateful to our patients and their families in supporting us with these programmes."
Last year, teams at the five hospitals ran by Barts Health performed 286,590 inpatient appointments and procedures.
This ground-breaking series is being made by The Garden Productions, the television company behind the long-running hit series 24 Hours in A&E in South London.
