Sister Teresa Dodwell retires after 29 years’ service with Barts Health

Earlier this year, Teresa Dodwell said farewell to teams at The Royal London Hospital following 29 years of service with the Trust. Teresa first joined as a nurse in main theatres in October 1989, when the RLH was still situated in the old building. Teresa subsequently worked across plastics and vascular as well as cardiac and ENT theatres. She later went on to join the night duty trauma services team when it was still in its infancy. When Teresa was a band 7, she took on theatre management and coordinator duties.

Of her time spent at The Royal London, Teresa said, “I loved my job and felt very privileged to work in a trust with such a good reputation. It made me feel part of something bigger than myself.” Teresa looks back fondly on the “fine colleagues” she has worked with and the many life-long friendships she has made.

Two years ago, following severe sciatica, Teresa decided to reduce her hours and work towards retirement, which officially started in May 2019. Teresa now plans to spend more time with her two grandsons and is looking forward to spending the summer with them. We thank Teresa for her years of service and wish her a very happy retirement.
