Barts Health recognised as a ‘Living Wage’ employer

The Living Wage Employer logo

Barts Health has received ‘Living Wage’ accreditation. This means a portion of our staff will now receive a minimum hourly wage of £13.15 which is calculated according to the cost of living and is more than the government’s minimum wage.

The accreditation will impact staff who are band 2 on bank and will mean their hourly rate will be in line with every day needs.

The Living Wage is calculated according to the costs of living and provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that want their staff to earn a wage they can live on. It's developed by the Living Wage Foundation and organisations who voluntarily chose to take on the benchmark are accredited for doing so.

Dee Mullner, head of people relations at the Trust, said: “We are proud to have received our accreditation as a London Living Wage employer.

“Our staff are vital to ensuring we can deliver quality care to our patients . That’s why we feel it is important they are paid a wage that reflects the cost of living in the capital.”

Barts Health joins more than 14,500 other organisations which have signed up to the scheme.
