Alan Gurney resigns as chief executive of Whipps Cross Hospital

It is with great sadness that we announce that Alan Gurney has decided to step down as chief executive of Whipps Cross hospital.
Alan has unfortunately been unwell and on sick leave for some time and after much deliberation during this time has decided to resign from his role to focus on making a full recovery.
Alan has been at Barts Health for over five years and chief executive of Whipps Cross for the last four and half years.
Dame Alwen Williams, Group Chief Executive of Barts Health said: “Alan has been a valued leader at Barts Health, where he has been instrumental in the vast improvements made by Whipps Cross in recent years.
“His dedication, professionalism and love for the hospital have all contributed to the better hospital that Whipps Cross is today – a solid foundation for continued and future successes.
“Alan is loved and cherished by so many of our staff and it has been an absolute pleasure working alongside him over the years.
“We wish Alan the very best of luck for the future and his ongoing recovery and he will be greatly missed by us all at Barts Health.”
We will be recruiting to the position on an interim basis until a permanent appointment is made next year. Heather Noble, medical director, will act as chief executive for Whipps Cross while interim arrangements are confirmed.
