Welcoming our Christmas arrivals
Babies born at Newham Hospital on Christmas Day were gifted a bag of goodies by the Maternity Team, which were handed out by Patient Experience Midwife Flora Khan on Christmas morning.
All 13 babies born each received a personalised baby grow, a children’s book, and a blanket as a ‘welcome to the world’ present, but also to keep them warm when they come into the world.
“We do it every year”, said Flora. “It’s a small token to mark a big occasion and I feel privileged to be able to do it. It’s always special when babies are born at the hospital, but there’s something even more special about those born around Christmas time.”
Xiao Zuo gave birth to her baby girl on Christmas Day at Newham Hospital this year and received a gift for her baby and herself.
“I’m very grateful to the staff here who delivered my baby safely and to then be given these lovely gifts is amazing. It’s so special that one of the team went to the trouble of gifting us these presents and it will be something that I’ll always treasure,” said Xiao.
Around 5300 babies are born at Newham Hospital every year, including 79 sets of twins.
