Say hello to our people participation leads
For the first time at Newham Hospital and at our trust, we’ve introduced people participation leads to help us better engage with patients and their carers to drive improvements in our services.
So, join us in giving a warm welcome to your people participation leads for Newham Hospital, Anna Sandiford (anna.sandiford@nhs.net) and Mbemba Bojang (mbemba.bojang@nhs.net).
What is people participation?
People participation provides a platform for service users (also known as patients) like you and their carers to be involved in different aspects of our hospital’s work with a view to improving how it runs.
The aim is to not only to provide participants with a space to have to their say, but also to work collaboratively with staff members to improve how services are run, led, planned, delivered, and evaluated. Ultimately, it’s about providing an opportunity for patients, staff and carers to work together for the betterment of the care provided by our hospital.
Who can be involved?
If you are using one of our services at Newham Hospital, or are a carer of one, you can take part in people participaion. This means anyone who is an inpatient or outpatient at our hospital. You can be involved with participation services for up to 12 months after their contact and/or treatment at the hospital.
Here are some examples of how you can be involved:
-
Review services through audits
-
Participate in the hospital’s quality improvement projects, through work streams and reference groups
-
Opportunities for co-designing and co-delivering training
How can I get involved?
You can be one of the first to know about opportunities with patient participation by getting in touch at bartshealth.nuhparticipation@nhs.net or emailing Anna (mobile: 07551675963) and Mbemba (mobile: 07551675913) directly.
