Our November shining star
Your well-deserved Newham Hospital Star of the Month for November is Sandra Runeckles, a midwife at Newham Hospital’s birthing centre.
Sandra received a whopping 13 nominations from 13 colleagues all commending her dedication to being ‘an excellent example of what a midwife should be’.
Despite being unable to work clinically, Sandra continues to ‘show passion and dedication to her work’. She continues to work full-time from home where she plays a key role in ‘carrying out audits and collecting and organising data about our birth centre to make endless improvements for the ward and clients’.
One nominee out of the many Sandra received said: “Her relentless passion and commitment to midwifery is unmatched, and her strength is inspiring.”
Speaking on the nomination, Shereen Nimmo, group director of midwifery, said:
“Sandra has been a valued and beloved member of Newham Hospital’s midwifery team for many years, and for good reason. She describes herself as late comer to midwifery as she joined the profession as a mature student, but has an absolute passion for midwifery. Her dedication to continuously making improvements in our services and the experiences of the women and birthing people we care for, as well as in supporting her team day in and day out, makes her a well-deserved Star of the Month.”
Simon Ashton, CEO of Newham Hospital added:
“Sandra shows relentless passion to midwifery and is a true inspiration to colleagues. Her commitment to supporting colleagues in foetal medicine despite the personal challenges she is facing is truly admirable and we’re very lucky to have her as part of our Newham Hospital team. Well done and congratulations Sandra!’
