Newham University Hospital introduces comfort packs

The packs will make life easier for people going through a difficult and distressing time, making sure they are comfortable and have everything they need. Each pack has:
- Toiletries including a toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel and a razor
- Ear plugs
- An eye mask
- Information about how the hospital runs at night
Money raised by a member of staff running a half marathon and cake sales held by staff has enabled the hospital to buy 100 packs.
Dionne Daniel, Senior Nurse for Older People and Stroke Services, said: “Our patients really appreciate these packs during a difficult time – one family left the team a box of chocolates to say thank you for the support they were given. It’s humbling to know that we’re making a real difference.”
Louise Jordan, Improvement Manager at Newham Hospital, said: “This is a small gesture for those who may be going through a distressing time and need to stay at the hospital unexpectedly. Small acts of kindness create a lasting memory for people going through a difficult time and at Newham University Hospital we would like families to leave our services feeling supported and cared for.”
