Newham Hospital appoints new director of nursing
Tristram Mills has been appointed as the new director of nursing for Newham Hospital. He will take up the position in the early 2022, when the current director of nursing, Louise Crosby, takes up her new role as chief nurse at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
Tristram brings 20 years of NHS experience to the role – from his current role as director of nursing for planned care and cancer services at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and his experience as director of operations there, to his time as the associate director of nursing at Whipps Cross Hospital.
Talking about his new role, Tristram says: “I’m very excited to be returning to work within Barts Health, and to be joining the Newham Hospital family for the first time. There are so many positive changes happening and planned to happen at the hospital, so it’s a really exciting time to be starting.
“I’m particularly excited about working with the great nurses, AHPs, midwives and the wider workforce at the hospital, and about continuing to develop this workforce to enable our patient to have high-quality care and an excellent experience of the services we provide. I’m also passionate about improving patient pathways to the benefit of staff and patients and about strengthening Newham Hospital’s position within the ICS. I can’t wait to get started and look forward to meeting the teams in the New Year.”
Speaking on Tristram’s appointment, Simon Ashton, acting chief executive for Newham Hospital, said: “I’m thrilled that Tristram will be the new director of nursing for Newham Hospital. He brings a diverse wealth of experience to the role, along with a passion for improving the experience of patients and colleagues, which will be instrumental to our aim of continuing to provide high-quality care to the people of Newham and beyond. He will be a great addition to Newham Hospital.”
