Closures to roads near Newham Hospital
From next week (22 January – 2 February) there will be road closures near to and around the hospital. These closures, which are managed by Newham Council, are happening to allow essential works to take place in the area.
The closures will take place from 7:30pm (19:30 hours) to 5am (05:00 hours) each night, between 22 January – 2 February 2024 (see maps below).
Because of these closures, there will diversions in place, which will impact people coming to and leaving the hospital. Please plan your route ahead of time, factoring in these closures and diversions, to ensure you arrive at our hospital in time for your appointment.
In particular, closures on the night of 30 January and 2 February (7:30pm to 5am) will impact Newham Hospital. This is because there will be no access to the hospital from Glen Road (see map 4 below).
If you want to enter or exit the hospital from 24 January to 2 February, please follow the signs for diversions and use Boundary Lane (the back entrance) as an alternative route.
Penalty charge notices (PCNs) will not be issued to anyone using Boundary Lane between 7:30pm (19:30 hours) to 5am (05:00 hours) on the nights of 24 January – 2 February 2024. If you use Boundary Lane road outside of these hours, you will be issued with a PCN as usual. Please read the signs relating to road closures to ensure you don’t drive somewhere you shouldn’t and in turn, are issued with a PCN.
These closures may also impact bus routes and cause delays on bus journeys. In particular, route 279 will be impacted between 7pm (19:00 hours) to 5am (05:00 hours) on 24 – 26 January.
For further information on the full extent of the closures between 22 January and 2 February can be found on Newham Council’s website. If you have any questions about this, please email Paul Martin.
