Your St Bartholomew’s star of the year 2019
Congratulations to Clare Marlow, who has been crowned star of the year for 2019. She previously won star of the month back in October.
Critical care outreach sister Clare was won the monthly prize for the ‘exemplary’ care she gave a patient at St Bartholomew’s earlier this year.
Clare's nomination, sent in by the relative of a patient, read:
“You were and are exemplary. It warmed our hearts when you arrived in the room to see my brother. You reassured us that he was safe and you were so skilful in how you managed his care and how you coached the ward nurses to make good decisions.
“What we also really appreciated was the amazing care and compassion you showed. You developed a relationship where he genuinely trusted you and it was such a privilege to observe you in practice.
“You even made him smile and trust me he didn’t have a lot to smile about.
“You agreed in partnership with him how you would proceed. You even popped in to see him when he was transferred to ITU.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart and all of my family. I am so proud that we have nurses like you working at Barts Health.”
Clare’s prize is a place at the Barts Health Heroes Awards in London on Wednesday 12 February.
The awards, which are held annually, recognise Barts Health staff who have gone above and beyond for patients and colleagues.
