What's the latest from the Youth Empowerment Squad? April 2021
At the April 2021 meeting, Youth Empowerment Squad (YES) members were updated on current projects members are involved in including the StoryFuture Project. The project has resulted in a card game which aim is to support young people transitioning from paediatrics to adults. This project is nearly finished and members were heavily involved in the design. Members have also been given the opportunity to test out the game and give feedback before it comes out! At the meeting, members also discussed the recent COVID19 vaccine survey they participated in at the March meeting. Barts Health staff members informed members that the information collected was very informative and they’d like it to be shared with the Communications Department so the Trust knows how best to share information with young people regarding the vaccine. Finally, members had a chance to participate in and give feedback for a Whipps Cross Outpatient Patient Charter.
Members also met with guest speaker, Haris Sultan who spoke with members about their experiences of sitting in on Interview Panels. Haris is working to create a Recruitment Pack for organisations involving young people on interview panels and has asked to collaborate with YES in the future.
Finally, members played a baby picture guessing game and had a send-off party for Barts Health staff member, Lindsay who will soon be going on maternity leave!
The Barts Health Youth Empowerment Squad is always looking for ways to expand their network.
