Sarah reflects on why The Royal London Hospital is so special to her
Sarah Barron is a Radiographer, who has worked at Barts Health for 11 years. She wanted to share her story about what makes Barts Health so special and why she thinks everyone should work there.
She said: “I started at Barts Health in 2009 which both seems like just yesterday and a million years ago! I remember my first day very clearly, having never been to East London before; it was a bit of a shock to say the least. I am from a small village in Ireland of about 100 people, so the buzz and atmosphere of Whitechapel was like nothing I had ever experienced before. But I remember feeling like I had come home.
“Being a radiographer at The Royal London Hospital is both challenging and rewarding and I’m currently the superintendent dental radiographer which I absolutely love. The Dental Hospital is an amazing place to work and we are so proud of how well we did in our CQC results! One of my favourite memories of working here is spending a day dressed as a green tooth fairy celebrating us going green.
“One of the best parts of working at the Royal London Hospital is the people. I have had the privilege of working with so many different professions, who no matter your role make you feel welcome and a part of the team even if it is just for that one patient.
“Within imaging everyone is like family, if you are ever having a hard time or need some extra support you know you have a whole team of people there to support you no matter what”.
Sarah is a huge advocate for the trust and said: “If you are thinking of joining the team you won’t regret it. We are a busy department and hospital, but you get a second family, friends for life and experience for your career you just cannot get anywhere else.
“Happy birthday Royal London Hospital and thank you for letting me be a small part of your 280 years!”.
