Resuscitation service lead retires after 35 years' NHS service

Dot Timms, Resuscitation Service Lead, is retiring after 15 years of service at Barts Health and 35 years of service in the National Health Service.

Lois Whittaker, managing director of the Education Academy, said: “On behalf of all your colleagues and friends we would like to thank you for your leadership, commitment and energy and to wish you all the best in your retirement. We will miss you!”

Mairi Banks, Billy Perkin and Keith Burgin, on behalf of the resuscitation team across our hospitals, said: “Dot, it’s a testament to your good leadership that we’ve all stuck with you for over ten years (one of us, sixteen years)!  During this time there have been many changes within the trust and the resuscitation service, and you’ve led and guided us through the changes seamlessly.

"You’ve always been a supportive manager, an advocate for your team, and someone we know we can approach in times of trouble: whether it be personal or work.

"Dot, you’ve been a great teacher - we shall miss encouraging junior staff members to watch your teaching so they can see how it’s done properly!

"You’ve always encouraged us individually to reach our goals and help us get there. You’ve been our go-to person over the years and we can’t thank you enough for your help and support.

"So we wish you lots of fun, gin, and sleep in your retirement!”
