Reflections on the Royal London 14/15th floor expansion

What was your role before the expansion, and what has been your role during the expansion?
My role has been to ensure we buy the right equipment in the right quantity and to have it delivered at the right time! I have a peripheral role of ensuring consumables are also available if NHSSC are unable to deliver.

What have you been responsible for?
I’ve been responsible for the delivery of equipment to the project plan.

What has been the biggest challenge?
The centralization of DH’s role in taking control of all respiratory procurement equipment purchases.

Secondly, negotiating with suppliers to deliver equipment at speed whilst acknowledging allocation based on country need. For example, we were expecting equipment to be delivered before the peak, but some was diverted to Italy and other countries that were in more need than the UK.

What has been your best highlight?
Working with my team who made an incredible effort in ordering equipment at rapid speed. Dr Jennifer Morris and the Clinical Physics team were critical in helping us interpret some of the tricky equipment requirements.

How are you feeling now it’s completed?
I’m very proud of what we’ve done achieved thus far.
