What drew you to research?
Clinical Research was something that I had very little exposure to on the clinical wards but I was always curious about changing and improving practice. When I came across the role of a Research Nurse, I thought it would be an opportunity to be part of something bigger. After a few years as a Research Nurse supporting clinical studies, I wanted to explore the different avenues of nursing research and conduct my own, which is why I applied to undertake the MRes in Clinical Research.
What impact do you hope your research will have?
I hope that my research will help to inspire nurses into a career in research, encourage better collaborations and build bridges with clinical services.
What advice would you give to someone considering undertaking this programme?
I felt very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to have undertaken this course. It has taught me to be more reflective, strategic and to visualise and appreciate differing perspectives. The programme is intense, so being well organised and being amenable to change would be useful.
What are your future plans?
I see myself continuing in the research field to inspire more researchers, especially within our nursing and AHP profession. There is a lot of work still left to do in building capacity and engagement within our trust. I feel privileged to be able to be at the forefront of change.
