Revealed: Winners of the Barts Health Heroes Awards 2022
Around 340 Barts Health staff gathered at The Brewery last night, with many more joining online, for the 2022 Barts Health Heroes Awards Ceremony, celebrating staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond for patients and colleagues in the past year.
It was the first time the awards had been held in person since February 2020, with the virtual event Over the Rainbow taking its place in 2021 due to the pandemic. For those unable to attend in person, the event was live-streamed on the night.
Rt Hon. Jacqui Smith, chair in common, kicked off the night, with Andy Bruce, Chair of Barts Charity following shortly to announce the four Barts Charity Award winners.
After a short video following our master of ceremonies racing across our hospital sites inviting our finalists to the night, Ashley Brooks, national patient champion, Bernadette Thomson, associate director of inclusion and Pauline Mazzella, site manager at The Royal London took to the stage to say a few words about each of our finalists before patients and colleagues revealed the winners.
In addition to the 5 Barts Charity winners, 48 finalists were in contention across 12 categories, with two special recognition awards announced. Well done to all of our nominees and congratulations to our amazing award winners!
