Delivering joy
The children on Newham Hospital’s Rainbow Ward were treated to some early Christmas presents this year, thanks to some very generous donors.
In partnership with PantryUK, staff from Elior, the company who provide catering to Barts Health delivered shoeboxes of festive goodies to the ward, while David Sullivan, the joint chairman of West Ham United donated toys to the children.
These incredibly generous gifts will go a long way to making Christmas special for these children, many of whom will be in hospital for the festive period.
From teddies and colouring books, to toys and games, there were special gifts for all the children on the ward.
Speaking on the donation, Hamera Elahi, the play specialist on Rainbow Ward, said: “My colleagues and I had the privilege of giving out the gifts boxes and toys that were so generously donated to the children.
“It was wonderful to see how happy the gifts made everyone, and the joy they brought to their faces. It’s hard for anyone to be in hospital at any time, but it’s particularly difficult for children to be in hospital over Christmas. Donations like this go such a long way to making a difficult situation that bit easier, which is why I, my colleagues and the children are so grateful to the staff at Elior, PantryUK and to David Sullivan, joint-chairman of West Ham United. You’re amazing.”
